Fire guts three-storey building in Mushin, Lagos



A three-storey building has been gutted by fire in the Mushin area of Lagos State around 11.22pm on Sunday.

The fire is said to have emanated from an open land on Shotiloye Street, Papa Ajao, Mushin used by carpenters as a plank market.

The situation has since been contained by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency and other responders.

A statement by LASEMA read in part, “Fortunately, there was no record of loss of lives, however, the fire escalated to an adjoining three-Storey building (Centri-Fit Auto parts) at 85, Ladipo Mushin. The joint efforts of LASEMA Response Team and other Responders were able to subdue the fire from escalating further.

“The cause of the inferno could not be ascertained as at the time of writing this report. Other Responders at the scene are Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Police Force Olosan Division and National Emergency Management Authority, NEMA.

“Dampening down ongoing.”
