UI NASU on Strike, Places “Idol” at School Gate to Demonstrate Grievance.

It was a very disturbing scene at the University of Ibadan in the early hours of Friday, February, 14th 2020, when a “disturbing image” was placed by the aggrieved members of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) at the school entrance.

Alas! It was an Idol at School Gate.

The NASU strike seems to be incessant as the members have been going on frequent demonstrations since last year 2019. It appears that the members are yet to have their needs met and their words heard.

Howbeit, this NASU strike seems to be one that will be very devastating as students of the institution are complaining about power being seized in the hostels which has consequentially given rise to short supply of water, especially at this period when the second-semester examination of the 2018/2019 is ongoing

However, in the light of this occurrence, the aggrieved members of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) locked the school gate, halted movement, and placed an Idol at the entrance.

Many people who saw the scene criticized the action of the NASU members, saying they stooped so low to have done something of such, especially in a respected institution like the University of Ibadan.

What do you have to say about this action of the Non-Academic Staff Union members of the University of Ibadan with the placing of Idol” at School Gate? Justifiable or unjustifiable? Give your comments below.
