Mikky Banjo AKA M1 has been a theatre artiste in the UK with over 34 stage performances across London. 

He has decided to give Nollywood a shot in order to stay rooted and connected to his source.

The new film has been released on Thursday the 13th February 2020 to launch the channel that will be bringing loads of Nollywood and other African Movies to the comfort of your home.

Yoruba latest 2020 movie titled Majemu Egbon (Sister’s Covenant) which taught about a boy nurtured by his mother against the father’s advice has reached over 50 views barely 18hours been aunched on YouTube  via Podium cinema YouTube channel.

Majemu Egbon, narrated a boy named Daniel who was brought home from the diaspora with the aim of resuscitating the father's hope. On the contrary his sister made a covenant that turned things around for all.

OGUN ASSEMBLY RECEIVES BILL ON AMOTEKUN CORPS, PASSES JUDICIARY FUNDS MANAGEMENT BILL

Ogun State House of Assembly has acknowledged the receipt of correspondence from the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun conveying the proposed bill on the State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps to the legislative arm. 

Upon the acknowledgment, the Assembly reiterated its renewed assurance of harnessing the views of the citizenry and necessary stakeholders in the legislative process of ensuring the speedy passage of the bill into law.

The proposed bill according to the governor’s letter to the Assembly dated 12th February 2020, read by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, was approved at the second meeting of the State Executive Council held on Friday, 11th of February, 2020, with a view to maintaining law and order in the State.

“I forward herewith a bill for a law to establish the Ogun State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps to assist in maintaining law and order in the State and for connected purposes as approved at the second meeting of the Executive Council of Ogun State held on 11th February, 2020, for the kind consideration and passage of the House of Assembly”, the letter partly reads.

In another development, the Assembly has passed the State Judiciary Funds Management Law, 2020. 

The passage of the bill titled: “HB. No. 034/OG/2020- The Ogun State Judiciary Funds Management Law, 2020” was consequent upon the presentation of the report of the House Committee on Justice, Ethics and Public Petitions led by Hon. Solomon Osho, who thereafter moved the motion for its adoption, seconded by Honourable Akeem Balogun and unanimously supported by the Whole House through a voice vote.

The bill was later read and adopted clause- by – clause before the motion for the third reading was moved by the Majority Leader, Yusuf Sheriff, seconded by Sylvester Abiodun, while the Ag. Clerk of the Assembly, Deji Adeyemo, did the third reading.

Responding, Speaker Oluomo directed that the clean copy of the bill be forwarded to the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his assent.

Residents flee as gunmen burn family of 11 alive, gruesomely kill others in Kaduna

The gunmen invaded the community in large numbers to unleash mayhem.

No less than 21 persons have been gruesomely murdered in an 'unprovoked attack' in Bakali Village in Fatika district of Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna.

According to The Guardian, among the deceased were 11 members of the same family, who were locked up and burnt alive in their home on Tuesday, February 11, 2020.

Other residents of the community took to their heels, as the gunmen invaded their community in large numbers.

A community leader and head of the family of the burnt 11 victims, Malam Sani Bakali, stated that the gunmen operated for about two hours.

Bakali said, “The bandits stormed our village on several motorbikes, brandishing AK47 riffles. Immediately they came, they started moving round the village, shooting sporadically. In the process, they came to our house and set it ablaze, with 11 people inside. All the 11 people were members of my family. They included three women and eight children, who were wives and children of my three younger brothers.

“They also killed two of my uncles. While on the bush path, we discovered four other bodies burnt to death. They equally killed two imams, one of them was my neighbour and a close friend.“We just performed the funeral prayer for the victims this afternoon (Wednesday). Initially, it was 20 bodies that we buried before we later discovered one more body inside the bush, and we buried him too."

He continued, “Right now, people have fled the village. I am the only one left because I have come to pick something. I just took one of my brothers and his two wives to Zaria. I am about leaving now myself.“Apart from those killed, there are nine people we are yet to see since after the incident. As it is now, we don’t know whether they have been killed or not."

ASP Muhamnad Jalige, the Kaduna Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), has confirmed the attack.

While Jalige could not confirm the casualty figures, he however said a team of policemen has been sent to ascertain the situation of things in the community.

The state of security across the country under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, has become a subject of heated discourse in the public domain in recent times.

Buhari was on Wednesday, February 12, booed when his convoy made its way into Maiduguri during his condolence visit to the state after a recent terrorist attack that claimed 30 lives.

Residents were seen expressing their displeasure over the security situation in the state.

“Bama so!” “Bamayi!”, which translates to “We don’t want; we’re not interested," greeted Buhari as his convoy sped into Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.

EPL: Ighalo banned from Man Utd’s training ground

Manchester United’s new boy, Odion Ighalo, has been banned from the club’s training ground, over fears of a potential coronavirus risk, the UK Mirror reports.

Ighalo moved to United from Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua on a six-month loan deal.

The Nigerian striker has been working on his fitness with a personal trainer, at a separate location in Manchester.

This is because Ighalo was instructed to train away from United’s AON Training Complex for health and safety issues.

The club took the decision for him not to use the facilities, while he is still within the mandated 14-day incubation period.

The 30-year-old also did not travel with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad to Spain for a warm-weather training.

United were afraid that border restrictions, could see Ighalo denied entry back into the UK.

Highlife legend, Victor Olaiya, dies at 89

Sir Victor Olaiya, one of Nigeria's high life legends, has died. The musician died yesterday, February 12th at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, after a brief illness.

He was aged 89.

Insecurity: Resign humbly now, you’re worse than Jonathan – Northern youths

The Coalition of Concerned Northern Youths, CCNY, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to honourably resign as Nigeria’s President, adding that he has failed woefully.

The Coalition, in a statement signed by its National Convener, Muhammed Ishaq on Wednesday, cited the President’s lack of the will power to tackle the security challenges facing the country.

This call by the youths Coalition followed a similar call by the Ango Abdullahi-led Northern Elders Forum, NEF, which had at the weekend declared the administration of President Buhari a total failure.

The group said it had warned Nigerians that Buhari has nothing to offer to them, adding that the President has failed to tackle insecurity and improve the economy.

NEF said Buhari-led government appeared helpless in finding solutions to the numerous challenges the country is faced with

The Northern youths added, “The above named coalition wishes to make its position clear regarding the insecurity problem that has been ravaging Nigeria particularly the Northern part for long.

“We, as a coalition that represents millions of youths from various nooks and crannies of Northern Nigeria, are pained by the insecurity problem that threatens to consume our region, the North.

“It is a glaring fact that security situation of Nigeria is seriously deteriorating and our agony as victims is aggravating.This lingering insecurity problem is one of the major reasons that made us to clamour for change and voted Goodluck Jonathan out in 2015.

“But instead of getting panacea for the problem, we just got respite and now the problem has been resurfacing with escalating dimension under the watch of someone that vowed to be our saviour.”

The group noted that is almost five years now and the country under the watch of Buhari is either worse than the Jonathan administration or it is no different from the previous government despte the fact that in his first term, “Buhari pledged that his government would bring an end to the national suffering inflicted by insecurity.”

“Our stance as youths and backbone four nation is that we grow tired of excuses while our lives are being taken on hourly basis.

“We cannot continue watching while our region is being turned to ashes and cemetery.

“We cannot keep mute while our futureis being punctured and fractured due to the carelessness and negligence of those that are entrusted with our protection.

“Our investigation revealed that about 80% of the victims of this insecurity are Nigerian youths particularly Northerners considering the fact that the kidnapped and the kidnappers are mostly youths,the killed and the killers are mostly youths, the soldiers on warfront and the terrorists are mostly youths also.

“It is on reliable and available records that not less than 245 persons were killed in violent attacks across Nigeriain January 2020 only.

“The Expat Insider Survey of 2019 by Inter Nations has revealed that Nigeria is the third most dangerous country in the world due to widespread insecurity and corruption.

“The aforementioned facts have irrefutably shown that Muhammadu Buhari as President of Nigeria has woefully failed to secure the lives of Nigerians due to probably lack of will, commitment or competence.

“If we did not forget, when Nigeria was boiling under Jonathan with Boko Haram massacring thousands and over runing-military barracks, almost all Nigerians believed Jonthan was not fit to rescue Nigeria and was voted out.

“Now that the same insecurity problem is replaying itself under President Muhammadu Buhari,we are left with no option than to repectfully but vehemently call on President Muhammadu Buhari to honourably resign to give room for someone who has what it takes to address the security problem that constantly turns our nation to another version of Somalia.

“The above call is made in the best interest of the nation having considered the fact that insecurity problem is caused and maintained by nothing but the failure of leadership.”
